Configuring Outlook Express for E-mail
Instructions: The following screens are similar to the ones that should
appear on your system.

- Open Outlook Express. The screen to the left should appear.
- Click on TOOLS and then Accounts
- Scroll down for the next step

- Click the Mail tab
- Highlight your account as it is listed
- Select Properties
- Scroll down for the next step

- Click the General tab
- Under Mail account, enter Indcomm or your e-mail address.
Note: Outlook Express allows you to have multiple account settings, so this is a reference title.
- Under User Information, enter your name is the Name field
- You can leave Organization blank. It is an optional field
- Your E-mail address at Indiana Communications should be in the form of username@indcomm.net
- You can leave Reply address blank or enter an alternate e-mail address
- Make sure to check the box next to: Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing
- To continue to reveiw and/or configure your settings, click the Servers tab
- Scroll down for the next step

- Outgoing mail (SMTP) should read smtp.indcomm.net
- Incoming mail (POP3) should read pop3.indcomm.net
- Verify that My incoming mail server is POP3 server
- Verify that you have selected the Log on using box
- The Account name should be in the form of username@indcomm.net (in lower case letters)
- Re-enter your Password (this is case sensitive
- Verify that you have NOT selected the My server requires authentication check box
- Click on Advanced
- Scroll down for the next step

- Uncheck the box Always connect to this account using
- Click on Advanced
- Scroll down for the next step

- Verify that your settings match these with the following exception: If you are having a problem with e-mail timing out or hanging while receiving e-mail, drag the Server timeouts slider from Short towards Long, until it reads 5 min.
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- You may now close any other windows that are still open
- That's it!! Your e-mail should be configured correctly. Now, try to send and receive email
- If ever you are not sure you are sending or receiving your e-mail properly try sending one to yourself. Just address an e-mail to yourself, send it, and check for new mail a few moments later. If everything is configured properly you will receive the mail in your inbox.
